Potrero Chico, Mexico

Rock Climbing with Kling Mountain Guides

Do you love the sun and loath the snow? Do you need to escape the harsh winter conditions of Colorado? Then come rock climbing with Kling Mountain Guides in sunny and warm Mexico! KMG guides rock climbing across the boarder to El Potrero Chico.

El Potrero Chico is located near the city of Monterrey, Mexico (not Monterey, California). Climbers have been ascending the steep limestone walls and canyons since the 1960’s. The first bolted route however did not get put up until 1989. Jungle-Mountaineering 5.10b-R was the route that started the craze. Today there are hundreds of bolted sport routes. These routes allow climbers to get extremely high off the deck with little more than a rope and set of quickdraws!

At night you’ll stay in your own private cabana with a private bathroom. We will cook a fresh breakfast each morning. Lunch will begin after breakfast and end at dinner. At night we will eat local cuisine at one of the several local el restaurantes. After dinner we can visit one of the local cantinas for an evening cocktail. This trip is seven days door-to-door. The first day is used for travel to Monterrey and El Potrero Chico where you will meet us at the airport. We then spend five days climbing, and one day traveling back to the States. This trip is the perfect length of time for that midwinter getaway!

This is a wonderful trip for climbers of all abilities! For those just getting into the sport, we’ll climb the dozens of routes rated under 5.9. If you wish to challenge yourself a little more, the possibilities are endless. From multi pitch big walls to hard crimper sport routes El Potrero Chico has something for you!

This trip is seven days door to door.  By including extra days at the beginning and end of the trip for travel you get more time to actually climb!
