Come experience the wonder of backcountry skiing and riding with our Introduction to Backcountry Skiing course. This two day primer is perfect for those skiers and riders that want to experience life on the "other side of the ropes!" If you have never skied/rode outside the confines of a ski area, than this course is for you! Colorado's Come see for yourself why so many ski movies are filmed here and olympic gold medalists train right here! Silverton CO, Red Mountain Pass, and the San Juan Mountains have the best backcountry skiing this side of Alaska! Let our expert educators and guides help you experience untracked backcountry skiing in Colorado's San Juan Mountains.

 

At KMG we are education heavy. This attribute shines in our Introduction to Backcountry Skiing course. Prerequisites:

  • Skiers should be in good physical condition. 
  • There are a lifetime of ski tours with different difficulties in the San Juan Mountains.  Please get in touch with us to find out if this course is right for you.   If need be, we would like to ski with you prior to course to help ensure that you are up to the challenge.
  • If you do not possess these skills or need review, we recommend doing a skills course with us in Colorado or Utah prior to your course.

Registration:

  • To secure your spot on this trip you will need to fill out our domestic registration packets. A 50% deposit is required.

The Backcountry Experience Mountain Shop is fully stocked with complete line of backcountry equipment available for rental and demo. Items include the latest in alpine touring and telemark skis and boots. Stop by the mountain shop and let the professional staff get you into the proper backcountry gear!
