American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Training

The American Mountain Guide's Association (AMGA) is the premier source for training, credentials, and services for professional mountain guides and climbing instructors in the United States.

For over 30 years, the AMGA has been dedicated to supporting the guiding community through excellence in education, standards and certification to enhance the quality of services provided to the public, while serving as a resource for accessing and protecting the natural environment. As a group the AMGA presents a strong, unified voice for high standards of the professionalism of guiding and climbing instruction in the United States. The AMGA is an organization grounded in powerful tradition that continues to evolve with the ever changing arena of mountain guiding and climbing instruction. We offer a series of training courses and exams designed to certify guides and climbing instructors to the highly respected, internationally recognized, standards of the AMGA.

Come train with the expert guides and instructors at KMG.  Our SPI course's are taught by KMG owner, AMGA Certified Rock Guide and SPI Program Provider Josh Kling as well as KMG Guide and Assistant Program Provider Ben Gardner. This means all our courses are taught by our own staff.  At Kling Mountain Guides, we value education as well as guiding. June 8-10, 2012

This course is designed for folks that either work and climb in a single pitch setting. It is the only nationally and internationally recognized single pitch climbing instructor certification program. In 2009 the AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Program was recognized for meeting the "training standards" of the International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation (UIAA) and was granted the prestigious title of "Approved Association." This program is recognized by many land managers, insurance companies, other associations and of course the general public. The AMGA Single Pitch Instructor Program has been created to fit in the AMGA Rock Discipline training program.
